With ocean and seabird expert Carl Safina, we ride in a vessel headed to the most remote parts of the NW Hawaiian islands with biologists and interns who will replace those who have been working there the past 5 months.

This work isn’t for everyone; if you fall ill it can cost more than $80,000. to be rescued, akin to working in Antarctica in winter.

And we find out why all brand new clothing, shoes to underwear, that have been frozen, is required before you can disembark onto these remote islands. I’m reading selections from Eye of the Albatross, Visions of Hope and Survival.
