New Leo Moon

One of the things they don’t often tell us is that Leo is a season where the Sun is waning. We’re heading back to Winter, folks. Leo is often caricatured as dramatic and flamboyant, expressive and radiant. Leo shines on the stage. Leo sings it barbaric yawlp!

While this may be true, we must understand this in the context of what’s really going on. We must understand this in the context of what’s happening in the growth cycle of nature. It’s Summer’s ‘last hurrah’!

The fruits are ripening. The tomatoes are hanging heavy on the vine. The sunflowers are bathing fields in earth-grown sunlight. But that Sun is waning. The days are still long and bright, but they are getting shorter. We are headed back to Winter. We have limited time in which to shine. Welcome to our New Leo Moon and our need to remember how sacred each moment is.

Here we are, living life in the midst of the dramas of politics, society, economy, and relationship. We get pulled out of the present and into anxiety over the future or sadness regarding the past as if the leaves have already fallen or the garden was never planted. But in Leo season, we are reminded of the importance of fully blossoming into the totality of our being, now…before the days get any shorter.

Let’s set an intention with this New Moon for living our most authentic and joyous life, celebrating the sacred present moment, and remembering that we have the power to radiate our light into the world despite any perceived or impending shadows.

In this moment we have this one breath. We have the power to choose our next step, which lens we wish to look at reality through, and whether we wish to be truly alive. The Sun is going down. There is so much pain, darkness, and shadow in this world. It is our job, each of us, to radiate what light we can into that darkness. Don’t let the darkness squelch your light. Radiate exactly who you must be into the world, and it will be brighter for it.
