About Driftless Radio

WDRT 91.9 FM is Wisconsin's Driftless region's only community radio station.It's commercial-free, independent, and volunteer-run.

Beginning in summer 2010, WDRT will broadcast a broad mix of programs unlike anything currently available on the dial. The station will serve as a voice of many voices, with a mission of providing public access to the airwaves and delivering locally crafted programming. On WDRT you'll hear a broad mix of music, local news, weather, sports, and unique syndicated shows.

WDRT is committed to remaining locally supported and operated. Because the station is noncommercial, it depends on community financial support and grants. WDRT has already met its initial capital campaign goal of $91,900 to purchase broadcasting and transmission equipment. Now we're in Phase II of our fundraising efforts. We need to raise another $91,900 to cover startup costs, which include volunteer training, programming, utilities, and operations, before our first broadcast.

WDRT will provide residents access to the airwaves and teach the art of broadcasting and audio production. If you have an idea for a show, an interest in radio broadcasting, or simply a desire to be part of the local radio scene, we welcome you to step up and get involved.

Building a radio station like WDRT is truly a community effort. We're depending on volunteers to construct the studios and later to produce and host shows, gather and report news, and administer and govern the station. Send a message to volunteering@wdrt.org to find out how you can participate.

Our studios are under construction at 311 S. Main Street in Viroqua. We're so pleased to have a space where passersby can witness our progress or stop in and share their thoughts. We envision WDRT as a space for community discussion, connection, and cooperation, not only on the airwaves, but also in person.
