The Anishinawbe Grandmothers are walking thousands of miles, carrying water from the Gulf to the Great Lakes, to raise awareness about water quality. WDRT's Lila Marmel walks and talks with one of the women in this segment from WDRT's June 4 broadcast (MP3 audio).
When the water walkers passed through the Kickapoo region they had been walking every day for over five weeks and had two weeks to go before reaching Lake Superior. There they will meet up with water walkers bringing ocean water from the Pacific, Atlantic, and Hudson Bay.
