On-Road and On-Farm Usage of Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO) and Biodiesel
Building fuel self-sufficiency in our rural community
On March 3, 2012, Organic Valley, Wisconsin Bioenergy Services and Southwest Wisconsin Community Biofuels are co-sponsoring a community discussion of SVO and biodiesel usage, both on-road and on-farm.
Those attending will learn the basics of SVO and biodiesel usage; how road and farm vehicle engines can be adapted for their use, regulations guiding their distribution, and lessons from experienced on-road and on-farm users.
The event will be held at Organic Valley headquarters: One Organic Way, La Farge WI from 9:00am till noon, followed by a light complimentary lunch.
Event Outline:
· Welcome and Keynote Presentations by Alicia Leinberger on SVO and biodiesel basics and by Taavi McMahon ofGreasEnergy on the latest technology for converting engines to run on vegetable oil.
· Break Out Sessions:
o Panel discussion of On-Road / On-Farm Use with community member and farmer voices of experience. Bob Brylski of Wisconsin Bioenergy Services will share lessons from other communities on the distribution of biofuels, including regulatory considerations.
o Fleet Managers discussion with CROPP / Organic Valley staff and partners
· Vehicle Showcase: Get a close-up look at:
o CROPP fleet trucks that have been adapted for use of SVO and biodiesel; speak with the people responsible for installing the adaptors and vehicle maintenance.
o Cars adapted for (or simply using) SVO and biodiesel; visit with the community member owners who describe on a practical level what they’ve done and learned
· Complimentary light lunch in the CROPP / Organic Valley cafe
